Who do you got in your boat?

YAAAAAYYYYY! WHO IS READY FOR LAKE DAYS??!!!! I know I sure am! Boating with my fam is, well...... crazy. We are usually the rowdiest boat out there! If you're riding the tube, you better be hanging on for DEAR LIFE. Cause Dad doesn't just want to knock you off into the water...... OH NO. He's trying to send you into a whole other dimension. It's legit WILD, but it's the best.

Despite Dad's best efforts to unload us from the tube, there is no other person I'd rather have in the boat to feel safe.

I know that Dad is trained and aware of the dangers that come with boating. He also knows the preventative measures to take to ensure the likelihood that nothing will happen. Dad is trained, prepared, knowledgeable, and will know how to respond in the unfortunate event that something did happen. When it comes to being on the water you want someone who knows more about it than you do.

YES, I am working on getting to my main point, but I had to lay the groundwork out first!

In chapter 8 of Matthew, verses 23-27. It tells the account of Jesus calming the storm. There are a few points that I found very helpful and encouraging and would love to share with you as well. First, let's read it together......

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

There is A LOT that goes down in these 5 verses. Jesus is just trying to catch up on some sleep after the crazy busy day He's had healing people and being totally AWESOME. I don't doubt that being that AMAZING has to be a lot of work! Let's just remember that the disciples know that Jesus has got some pretty supernatural capabilities and they are in no position to be doubting Him. 9 verses before Jesus had just healed Peter's Mother-In-Law. So they know He's LEGIT!

Quite a few of these men were fishermen before they were "fishers of men" so they are pretty experienced on the water. They know a thing or two that's for sure. Reading of the complete and utter fear that overcame them, you know it's probably gotta be a doozy of a storm. I find it kind of amusing that they actually thought that God was just gonna let His only Son drown in a boat. NAW AW BOYS... GOD'S GOT A PLAN. Close to Jesus is the safest place to be, even in the midst of a raging sea.

I hope if your reading this you are sitting down, I feel like soooo many people forget this and your reality check is just bout to hit you between the eyes. Ya'll READY?????

Were you sitting?

As a Christian, you are not promised a life of cute white churches with a picket fence and a cup of coffee with two creams and one sugar at the door.

You will be hated by all nations because Jesus was hated (Matthew 24:9). You will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12). You will come upon trials and temptations (James 1:2,12). You will be attacked by Satan and his evil entourage (1 Peter 5:8). You will come upon rough waters and stormy seas (Isaish 43:2).

But, do you know what remains the same through all of it...... JESUS (Hebrews 13:8). We are promised that He will ALWAYS BE WITH US AND THAT HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US

(John 14:16,18, Deuteronomy 31:6).

Even in your biggest battles, on your darkest nights, on the roughest seas, and in the deepest valleys. HE WON'T LEAVE YOU TO NAVIGATE THE RAGING SEA ON YOUR OWN.

C.S. Lewis said "Life with God is not immunity from difficulties, but peace within difficulties."

So, let me ask you, "Who do you got in your boat?" I know for a fact that Oprah Winfrey or Ellen DeGeneres cannot calm the wind and the waves of your life. Your favorite models and influencers don't have it all figured out despite their insta feed. The superhero in the movies are only superheroes in the movies. They are real people plagued by the same issues as you. But JESUS, He is the same Jesus today as He was 2,000 years ago. He is the same Jesus that raised Lazurus from the grave, that walked on the water, that healed the sick and diseased with just a touch, the same Jesus that overcame sin, death, and the grave.

If you do not know Jesus, He is waiting for you to open the door of your heart so that He may come in. Jesus desires to know you and have a personal relationship with you. His sacrifice on the cross was the greatest gift ever known to mankind. Don't put off receiving it any longer.

A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I want the creator of the wind and the waves in my boat. Jesus does not run away from your storm or try and downplay it. NO WAY< He is right there beside you, He is the calm in the chaos and He walks with you through it all.

So I ask again, "Who do you got in boat?"

Sincerely, Chelsea 💕
